(Santa Fe, NM) – Lt. Governor Howie Morales addressed the annual meeting of CONAHEC, 180 higher education institutions working toward more integration of colleges and universities in the North American region, on April 2nd.  The conference took place on the campus of New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, New Mexico.  Morales earned a PhD in Education at NMSU.

In his remarks, Morales focused on New Mexico’s impressive recent efforts to solve “one problem that all of our institutions of higher education are facing today, and that has been real issue here: the fact that too few of our high school graduates are really prepared for college and the workplace.”

Morales explained how Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham had called for an ‘Education Moonshot’ for New Mexico public schools, and urged the legislature to support an increase of $500 million investment of resources next year, and other policy changes to transform and improve classrooms.
